SC Communities brings together programs designed to support emerging leaders and groups that have traditionally been under-represented in computing. We provide opportunities for students, faculty, early-career professionals, and international attendees to participate in the SC Conference through our Ambassadors, Broader Engagement, Education Program, Student Cluster Competition, and Student Volunteers activities. Limited travel support is available for some of these programs; we encourage you to apply.
SC10 Communities proudly recognizes Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, TeraGrid, Coalition for Academic Scientific Computation, King Abdullah University of Science and Technology, Krell Institute, National Science Foundation, Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, and Intel for their support.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is Communities?
SC Communities brings together programs within the SC conference designed to support emerging leaders and groups that have traditionally been under-represented in computing. Many of the programs within Communities existed before the Communities structure was first organized for SC09. By bringing these programs together, we enjoy the synergies of working more closely together, and aim to create a more engaging conference experience for the participants of our programs.
Can I apply to more than one program within Communities?
Yes, but you will only be accepted into one. The Chairs of the programs to which you apply will work together to determine which of the programs youve applied to seems to be the best fit for your background, interests, and needs.
Which Communities programs are open to students?
While all Communities programs accept applications from students, the greatest focus on students can be found in our Broader Engagement, Student Cluster Competition, and Student Volunteers programs. All students attending the SC10 Conference are invited to participate in our Student Job Fair, regardless of whether they are participating in any other activities of the Communities group.
My company or institution wants to increase our visibility to emerging leaders. Are there opportunities to sponsor Communities events and activities?
Yes. Please see our flyer and/or contact the Communities Chair at firstname.lastname@example.org to discuss specific opportunities.
