ABSTRACT: Parallel NFS (pNFS) is the standards based answer to the need to scale network file systems to higher performance, an important issue as advances on the compute side have increased the need for high bandwidth file I/O. pNFS is important because it brings together the benefits of parallel I/O with the benefits of the ubiquitous standard for network file systems (NFS). This will allow users to experience increased performance and scalability in their storage infrastructure with the added assurance that their investment is safe and their ability to choose best-of-breed solutions remains intact. Several implementations of both the server and client side are currently under way and exist at different stages of completion.
This BoF will examine the current state of pNFS. BoF participants will represent a cross section of key vendors, users, influencers and other members of this community.
