SESSION: Engineering: Introduction to Solid Mechanics
EVENT TYPE: Communities, Education
TIME: 3:30PM - 5:00PM
ABSTRACT: This session will serve as an introduction to the basics of solid mechanics and the stress strain relationships in solids. It will also introduce the finite element method as a computational modeling approach for structural mechanics problems that are too complicated to be addressed by analytical methods. The session will then discuss how the finite element method can be applied to other multiphysics applications such as heat transfer, electrical field, and others.
