ABSTRACT: Over the last several years components of the Indiana University Pervasive Technology Institute have developed and codeveloped several educational workshops and presentations oriented to elementary through high school students. The topics and lessons covered have been in computer history, computer components and related technology, programming, software engineering principles, networking, supercomputer technologies, and robotics. The goals of these classes have been to educate and to inspire students to consider careers in technology while maintaining an atmosphere of fun, excitement and cooperation. These classes have been conducted in schools and as one day summer workshops.
Indiana University will be presenting content and instructional material from the Robotics Workshop, the No Guts, No Glory Workshop, the Networking Workshop, and the Be a Supercomputer Workshop. Each of these workshops contains hands on exercises which will be discussed and demonstrated.
