ABSTRACT: In this session, the open source 3D finite element grid generator, “Gmsh”, will be introduced. It provides a fast and user-friendly meshing tool with parametric input and advanced visualization capabilities. It will be used to generate the 3D geometries of couple of real applications (cantilever beam and hip replacement). These will be then exported to Elmer where their models will be fully defined using its graphical user interface then simulated and analyzed using an appropriate solver. Results will be visualized using Elmer post-processing capabilities.
