Biology: Systems Biology Modeling with CellDesigner and the Biomodels Database
SESSION: Biology: Systems Biology Modeling with CellDesigner and the Biomodels Database
EVENT TYPE: Communities, Education
TIME: 10:30AM - 12:00PM
ABSTRACT: Dynamic modeling of biomolecular systems enables scientists to assess whether their understanding of a system is sufficient to account for the system’s behavior. Once an adequate model is produced it can be used to anticipate the effects of perturbations to the system resulting from disease or medical intervention. This session introduces the CellDesigner and Systems Biology Workbench software, which can be installed on any personal computer and used to build, run and analyze biological system models. The Biomodels repository will also be described, with particular attention to how this database, containing a large number of thoroughly documented published models in standard formats, can be use as a teaching resource.
