SCHEDULE: NOV 13-19, 2010

Brocade 10 and 100 GbE Technology Innovations at the Core of Large Scientific Research Collaboration Networks

SESSION: Networking II

EVENT TYPE: Exhibitor Forum

TIME: 2:30PM - 3:00PM

Presenter(s):Ken Cheng

Brocade will present its latest developments in networking technologies for High Performance Data Centers and Research Collaboration Networks. We will discuss the architecture of large HPC networks built using Brocade’s MLX router with over 15Tbps fabric capacity and providing 256 wire-speed 10GbE ports or 32 wire-speed 100GbE ports each. The cost-effective terabit trunking, by aggregating 10GbE links (up to 64 links in a LAG) allow fast data transfer between locations or nodes. The sub-200ms resiliency in case of link or node failure ensures maximum network availability. Brocade’s MLX enables building very large, scalable, low latency, non-oversubscribed and redundant research networks with very high bandwidth. These are used for data collection, rapid raw data processing and reduction, as well as data storage and distribution among geographically distributed collaborators. We will discuss a couple customer use cases involving telescope arrays, radar data, and sensors arrays in physics experiments.
