Truths and Myths of Automated Tiering within HPC Environments

SESSION: Storage I

EVENT TYPE: Exhibitor Forum

TIME: 10:30AM - 11:00AM

Presenter(s):Michael Kazar

ROOM:280-281

ABSTRACT:
Automated tiering is defined as the ability to move data between different types of media within a storage system. Seems simple, right? This speaker track will take a deep dive look at automated tiering and how it fits into HPC environments, the benefits of deploying an automated tiering solution, and the little known secrets behind the technology. One thing that isn’t common knowledge is how an automated tiered storage system can be used effectively for WAN optimization. HPC environments routinely require fast access with exchange of data between locations; this is a must when the working sets of data requirements are great. This speaker session will unveil how automated tiering can be used to support demanding applications within HPC infrastructures across the WAN.
