A Case Study: Securing a U.S. National Lab’s Networking Infrastructure with Green, High Performance, Multi-Application Platforms

SESSION: Networking II

EVENT TYPE: Exhibitor Forum

TIME: 2:00PM - 2:30PM

Presenter(s):Joel Ebrahimi

ROOM:280-281

ABSTRACT:
When faced with an influx of network traffic combined with the overall goals of meeting the requirements of a “Green Network” initiative and decreasing support costs while supporting 10Gbps interfaces, it is easy to understand how network managers at a U.S. National Laboratory quickly became frustrated with their efforts to deploy a security solution to protect sensitive network information. In addition, the lab had a difficult time managing a previously installed IDS/IPS solution that took up too much space in the datacenter and consumed vast amounts of power. Attendees to this session will learn how this U.S. Lab was able to achieve all of their networking security goals with a high performance platform built to support 10Gbps network interfaces and multiple applications running at wire speeds -- while proving that a smaller footprint that uses less power meets the criteria of “going green.”
