Meeting Interconnect Architecture Requirements for HPC Challenges
SESSION: Cluster Interconnects
EVENT TYPE: Exhibitor Forum
TIME: 3:30PM - 4:00PM
ABSTRACT: The ever-increasing demand for HPC cycles, coupled with the compelling price/performance of cluster computing, will drive some systems to tens-of-thousands of multi-core nodes. The demands placed on the cluster interconnect is expected to increase dramatically, not only in terms of raw performance measured by the traditional metrics of bandwidth, latency, and scalable message rate, but also in terms of fabric efficiency as measured by network balance and overall utilization. This session will discuss interconnect architecture requirements to meet the challenges of multi-petaflop machines, and how meeting those requirements benefits machines of all sizes.
