ABSTRACT: Codesign has been recognized as a critical element of moving
to the next generation of exascale architectures and applications. An early successful example of effective codesign within the DOE Office of Science is the development of the NWChem computational chemistry package at the Environmental Sciences Molecular Laboratory at DOE's Pacific Northwest National Laboratory. NWChem is based on the Global Arrays programming model developed by Jarek Nieplocha as part of the codesign effort. This talk will present a program managers perspective on the legacy of NWChem and Global Arrays and their impact on computational science.
