Cloud Networking: Evolution of Data Center Traffic Patterns
SESSION: Networking I
EVENT TYPE: Exhibitor Forum

ROOM:280-281
ABSTRACT: For many years, networks have been designed for client server traffic - for enterprises or simple web applications. While hotmail and ebay epitomized the dot com era, datacenters grew to keep up with unsatiable demand from the users. However these applications were mostly client-server.
While the legacy helped spur the growth of web based applications, cloud platforms such as Facebook, Amazon, Azure, Salesforce, as well as the backend analytics, demand a new architectural approach. Traffic patters are mostly server to server or server to storage, resulting in much higher bandwidth needs and non-blocking performance.
In this session, we will review trends in datacenter traffic patterns and how next generation platforms are being built in the cloud.
