ABSTRACT: Supercomputing professionals have long been experts in parallel computing, but that expertise is not generally shared among developers nor is it a common part of the CS and Engineering curriculum. Now that multiprocessing has hit the mainstream, what does the move to a many core platform mean to education in general, and Computer Science Curricula in particular? In the face of ubiquitous parallel systems, what CS core topics need to change? What are the languages, models and patterns that will allow academia to demonstrate the opportunities inherent in the new platforms and teach them effectively to the next generation of technologist? How can Industry help?
