DESCRIPTION:ABSTRACT: The use of air cooling in data centers and its energy use\, cost\, and performance limitation is a well-known issue. In addition\, the equipment required for air cooling is costly and air cooling can limit performance and power density. Moving from air to fluid submersion cooling offers data centers the ability to nearly eliminate energy used for cooling\, which typical runs between 30 and 50% of the total energy used by a data center.    Dielectric Fluid Submersion Cooling is now offered by three companies.  Before switching cooling methods\, data centers managers should understand how their facility will change\, including understanding the layout\, density\, operation\, and maintenance of a fluid submersion facility.  GR Cooling will detail the energy savings and facility considerations common to all vendors of submersion cooling.  GR Cooling will also compare layout and maintenance with a traditional air-cooled facility.
