DESCRIPTION:ABSTRACT: This panel will weave together key participants from industry\, national labs\, educational and leading edge universities\, to share their views on this topic. Now that we have at our disposal\, several hundreds of Tera-scale and Peta-scale systems\, this begs the question: “Why cannot we use these systems to their potential?” The constant lament heard from various end users in all areas of HPC deployment\, is that the human pipelines of computational scientists and practitioners needed\, is just not there. Where did we go wrong and how should we address this? The various panelists come with several years of experience and suggestions on how to alleviate this. For example: how can we get the young folks to think PGAS? We also hope to show that these “workforce of the future” development ideas and innovative suggestions by the panelists do indeed have merit and should be considered seriously by the HPC community.
