DESCRIPTION;ENCODING=QUOTED-PRINTABLE:ABSTRACT: OpenMP is the de facto standard for writing parallel applications for shared memory computers.  With multi-core processors in everything from laptops to high-end servers, the need for multithreaded applications is growing and OpenMP is one of the most straightforward ways to write such programs.  We will cover the full standard emphasizing OpenMP 2.5 and the new features in OpenMP 3.0.=0A=0AThis will be a hands-on tutorial.  We will have a few laptops to share, but we expect students to use their own laptops (with Windows, Linux, or OS/X).   We ask that students setup their laptops in advance by either purchasing an OpenMP compiler, acquiring a demo compiler, or by using an open source environment (see www.openmp.org for details).   We will have access to an SMP server over the internet, so students should also arrive with putty or some other terminal client installed on their laptops.
